Oregon Thoroughbred Owners & Breeders Association

Promoting the owning, breeding and racing of Oregon Thoroughbreds

The OTOBA Board of Directors are increasing two programs to boost Thoroughbred breeding in Oregon!

Updated December 1, 2020

The OTOBA Foal Incentive will increase to $500 for Oregon-bred Thoroughbreds born in 2020, 2021 and 2022.  Foals born in 2019 that have not yet received the OTOBA incentive will be paid $225.

You must submit a copy of the Jockey Club certificate to the OTOBA office for payment to be processed. The OTOBA will issue payment to the breeder listed on the  Jockey Club certificate. Non- OTOBA members will be assessed a 5% fee.

The OTOBA will double the Breeder's Award to 20% for breeders of Oregon-bred Thoroughbreds who have earnings at the Grants Pass meets in 2020 and the Grants Pass Spring meet of 2021. Earnings are calculated on Thoroughbred races for Oregon-breds placing 1st - 5th. Non-OTOBA members will be assessed a 5% fee. Payments for the 2020 meets will be mailed in December 2020.

Oregon-bred Owner's Bonus
Oregon State Statute guarantees that a percentage of all Thoroughbred handle in Oregon is paid to the Oregon Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association. The OTOBA is required to allocate these funds to the owners of Oregon-bred Thoroughbreds who compete at the commercial race meet.

The OTOBA will pay an Owner's Bonus for the Grants Pass commerical meets! Funds accumulate for one year and will be paid after an audit is complete with the Oregon Racing Commission. You may expect a bonus payment around July or August 2021.
